"Quantum Light Source at Fingertips"-New Progress in Research on Lithium Niobate Photonic Chips

Quantum information technology is one of the most fascinating fields in the 21st century. It uses the superposition principle and entanglement characteristics of the quantum world to make information processing show great advantages in terms of capacity, speed, and precision, and will become a supporting technology in the post-Moore era. There are still great challenges in the practical application of this technology. How to make quantum devices into chips, that is, to improve chip performance while reducing costs, has become a key issue in this field.


Recently, the research team of Academician Zhu Shining of the School of Physics of Nanjing University realized the first quantum optical chip based on lithium niobate, which successfully integrated functional units such as entangled photon source, electro-optic modulator, and photon interferometer in the same optical superlattice-based niobium On the lithium acid photonic chip, the integrated design of entangled photon generation and regulation is realized, and the fast switching of the entangled photon to the bunched state and the separated state is completed.
